bluedolfyn who dragged me kicking and screaming got me to both watch Buffy and read Harry Potter, yea these many years ago. Recently, I discovered that while she is a Torchwood aficionado she had not, in fact, seen any Doctor Who since sometime in the 80s.
Me: I'm sorry, what?
Blue: No, really.
Me: Then how does Jack's existence even make sense?
Blue: It's supposed to make sense?
To quote the man himself, fair point.
I may have nagged at her a bit to correct this oversight. I do, after all, have that massive favor to repay. And so now, she's watching the Ninth Doctor season.
Me: So how many eps in are you?
Blue: Three.
Me: Ah, so you've met Gwen's not-quite-ancestor and caught a glimpse of future-Jack then. Keep an eye out for Tosh while you're at it.*
Blue: Um, no, I don't think I've seen Jack.
Me: Well, you wouldn't recognize him.
Blue: Not played by the same actor?
Me: Really not.
Blue: But where? When?
Me: Nah, you get to find out when the Doctor finds out, and he won't even meet Barrowman!Jack for awhile.
Blue: *very clever extortiony statement that I won't repeat*
Me: Let's just say he's got a face you'll never forget, and that's all you're getting out of me.
Did I forget to mention it'll be awhile before the Doctor figures it out? Um, a long while? *ducks* Don't anybody tell her! *evil grin* This is payback for the many, "Well, it'll make sense when you finally get to such-and-such episode" moments with Buffy. Mwuhahahaha!
And now, I should probably try doing some laundry. Happy Monday!
* Granted, I forgot that the whole, "Are you from an old Cardiff family?" thing came up on DW and not TW, but oh well. Not a big spoiler, as spoilers go. And the Tosh thing actually annoys me, because ... seriously? What sense does that make?
