Jun. 20th, 2010 03:56 amAlongside working my way through Classic Who, I'm rewatching the original (as in 1970s) Battlestar Galactica, if a bit more slowly. I'm just watching the 2nd ep now. Strangely enough, I seem to remember that on one of the special features for the new Battlestar, someone had said that there used to be debate about what was inside the original Cylons. That struck me as odd, as they'd always seemed rather obviously mechanical to me. Sure enough, in this ep, Apollo just explained that the original Cylon race were reptilian, but the machines they had built outlived them and they were still called Cylons. So, um, what's the debate then?

Or finding out whether all these "echoes of things past" are actually deliberately interwoven themes rather than just rehashing of the old (or use of already-made set materials). C'mon, Moff. I've been thinking all season that the weaker eps have been sacrificed in the service of some mega-arc across the season that would finally make it all make sense. Please, bring it home.

I knew I liked Burn Notice
Jun. 8th, 2010 11:03 pmWe've just started watching S3. Yes, I know S4 just started, but S3 just came out on disc, and other than Patsfan and his sports, we still don't really manage to watch shows while they are actually airing.
Anyway, I already liked the show, but this season looks like it's starting off even better. And I loved, loved, loved this little dialogue in the first (or was it second?) ep. It's like reason #253 why I like Michael Westen about a gazillion times more than Jack Bauer.( Cut because I guess it's spoilery, though is anybody who likes the show further behind than us? )
Yes, I did just manage to turn a bit of fannish squee into a political mini-rant. Also, I apparently need to seek out a Burn Notice icon.

May. 16th, 2010 01:45 amToday was a bit off. Had to get up in the middle of the afternoon and go tutor some friends. So I'm only just watching DW now. I caught a semi-spoilery comment on my flist beforehand, not terrible, but enough that I knew I'd want to do running commentary on this one.
