firefly124: eleventh doctor and amy leaning against tardis (eleven and amy by griggharris)

So, I watched AGMGtW again last night, and this time it fully dawned on me that River's wearing the same outfit as she was at the end of DotM, plus vortex manipulator, which had gone missing by the time she was being d/o at Storm Cage. I'd sort of noticed before, but hadn't really thought about the implications for her timeline.

Well, I wouldn't put it past her to have hidden that rather well on her person. So it could still be after she's gone back to Storm Cage.

That little speech, however, was something that the version of her we met at the start with Rory already knew about. So it was, presumably, her past. And yet the Doctor had just taken her on a date to 1814 for her birthday, which would make it before their last kiss, one would think.

WTFF?

Also, there's the minor detail of her still having the vortex manipulator later in the Doctor's timeline than when we saw her obtain it, which should mean it's earlier in her own timeline. So not quite "back to front" in any case. But there's definitely a part of me wondering if, for River, this is all happening between TPO and TBB. (Or rather, in the middle of TPO, or possibly in the middle of TBB. In between, she was stuck in the TARDIS, after all.)

And I thought Jack's timeline made my head hurt.

As for the little girl, either River's one hell of an actress, or that's not her. Okay, we know she's one hell of an actress. But she seemed well and truly perplexed by the space suit. Not the sort of thing I'd expect her to forget. However, if the little girl is her daughter with the Doctor, and she was just having early-pregnancy twinges around the Silents in that ep, then it wouldn't be something she ought to remember.

On a different topic and for no apparent reason whatsoever, I suddenly remembered another time and place in which we've heard about "The Flesh" which was believed not to have sentience but did: New New York in the year 5 billionish. The cat-nurses were using something they referred to as "The Flesh" to experiment. One had even written a paper on whether it had a sort of rudimentary sentience. Now, this was clearly not a Ganger-type situation, but there'd been millennia to refine the process so that you got individualized biology without the need for a prototype to be in a harness. Or perhaps it started with putting patients in harnesses and creating a Flesh avatar of each to experiment on and went from there. In any case, it could be a total coincidence ... or it could not. And I lean towards "not." WTF it could possibly mean if there *is* a connection is another story. Not many ideas there. However, the Face of Boe was also there, and then there's my fangirly hope that pushing the rest of the season until after TW:MD means we have a chance of seeing Jack. Maybe so the Doctor can plant a seed that leads to him sending that message to the psychic paper?

Oh crap. I may have to write that.

Unrelated to any speculation at all but related to both a throwaway moment in AGMGtW and psychic paper, I had a dream that involved looking at pictures of the Muses and trying to figure out which was real, based on looking for fractal images in the swirls of their hair. Thanks for that, Moff. LOL
