On the plus side, I've been reading and commenting more. Not a ton, but more. Also working on my wintercompanion fic, which is stalled out at the point where I need to either just turn it into fluffy porn (porny fluff?) or create an actual actiony plot.

So, of course, I pulled out the Tarot of the Cat People, which has become my "writing deck." This led me to wondering about a Doctor Who tarot (which there should totally be) and who would be what cards.

In Torchwood, we canonically see Jack turn up as the Knight of Swords, but I'd be more inclined to give that to Rory and find another for Jack. There are a few reasons I might go with him as the Hanged Man, but also many reasons that wouldn't quite work. Why actually work on the story when I can waste time on this, right? *facepalm*

There's a reason I delayed beta-reading an o-fic for someone today on account of brain-friedness.

In other news, I'm all kinds of psyched about going to see rm's play, Dogboy and Justine on Wednesday, and then meeting up with a friend I haven't seen in 12 years on Saturday. Squee! For either of those things to happen, my car needs to be fixed tomorrow, preferably without breaking the bank. There's only so much money I'm willing to put into a 12 year old 200k+ miles Chevy, but it's actually running fairly well and it would be good if it were also able to stop without making grinding noises worse than the TARDIS' time rotor. (I do not leave the brakes on! However, they do need to be put on occasionally.)

That's the state of things here. Hope all is well with all of you. And if anyone has thinky-thoughts about who to put on what card on a completely hypothetical Doctor Who tarot, I'd love to hear them!

Hierophant is a force for conservative order, presumably created to protect and guide the people, but prone to over-reaching. The Torchwood Institute blowing up the aliens in the transition between 9th and 10th Doctor is an example of "we know what's good for the people, and they will learn to understand that eventually."

Probably Canary Wharf, looked at that way, though that could as easily be the Tower, imagery-wise. Torchwood Cardiff was at least *trying* not to be like Torchwood London.

I'm now picturing the ever-exploding TARDIS from the end of S5 for the Sun.

The "Christmas Star" from Runaway Bride probably wouldn't work as The Star. I'm really stuck on that one. Unless, ooh, Van Gogh's Starry Night with TARDIS could work, though not so well if the exploding TARDIS is also being the Sun.

I still have no justification for Sarah Jane as the Moon other than "feels right."

Well, we've got a couple different forms of the same character already, so maybe Martha in her "walking the world" for the Hermit? Either that or, to take the image more literally, Tom Milligan standing on shore with a light waiting for the fabled Martha to arrive.

Trying not to use different incarnations of the Doctor, since all of them should probably be on the Magician card, though there are a few specific scenes that would make sense for Justice.

It doesn't quite fit, but the scene from Gridlock when all the "cars" finally soar up out of the motorway in New New York on New New Earth seems like it could work for The World, somehow.

Which just led me to the Face of Boe as The Hermit. 0.0
