On Monday, I found myself very grateful that I get paid regardless of whether I have tutees, as I had not a one signed up. Granted, all the sciences have finished for the summer except A & P and most of the maths, but I'd expected at least a couple of math folks. *shrugs* Instead, I got paid to make a dent in my backlog of bookmarking over at the [profile] fangirl_tour, which was nice.

Yesterday, I was very grateful for a beautiful day spent with [personal profile] bluedolfyn and J. It was great to see them both. We went to the beach (of course ... but we all agreed that, while the swimming part works out better when it's warm, the lack of other people in cooler months is preferable, because whoa!), swung by HTAZP, and then had dinner.

Today, I'm back to pharmaceuticals: I'm grateful for Burn Aid burn gel, as I missed a large swath of shoulder with the sunblock. Very good stuff. Beats Solarcaine & aloe, truly.

Meep!

So I've been watching Heroes S1 on DVD, and I got to the last ep tonight. Which was great. Right up until the last five minutes when the disk froze! Argh!

Have wiped the disk down. Tried watching the commentary version in case that reads from a different area of the disc. (Doesn't seem so.) Got to see a bit more, but only halting bits. So here's my question:

Spoilerific as anything for the end of Heroes S1 )

Haven't decided yet whether to see S2. I've heard it's nowhere near as good, and this really does look like it would be hard to top.

Also, I'm a bit boggled at the fact that the big slash ship is Mylar. Because, dude, that has to be some seriously twisted darkfic!

Also finished watching S1 of Burn Notice with Patsfan and have started S2. That's a fun show. I know there's fic out there, 'cause I've seen it recced. Not going looking until we're caught up though. I wonder how many authors go with the voice-over narrative style though, and how that works in "print" versus audiovisual.
