Will resume trying to read flist after I finally get to see the second part of EoT, because even half the spoiler cuts in various comms are using spoilery text. Meanwhile, memery.

Writing goals 2009: finish TKWIA and Turbulence. Well, got half of that done. LOL

Writing goals 2010: I hope to be able to get back to Turbulence and figure out where it's going so's to be able to finish it. And catch up on all the bday fics I've promised folks. And finish TFTWSD. But mostly just keep writing despite school.

Spiritual goal 2009: Keep my spiritual practice going and don't let Kwan Yin be overshadowed by the Greeks just because of HTAZP's proximity. Another mixed success situation for the first part and almost complete and utter fail on the second.

Spiritual goal 2010: Focus more on Kwan Yin. Just because She's not the sort of Goddess to beat her dedicants around the head when they wander off is no reason to ... wander off. There's a reason I dedicated myself to Her, and I need to reconnect.

Physical health goal 2009: Keep some sort of regular physical activity. Well, off and on, so that kind of negates the "regular" part, but I did get back to Curves and am going regularly again, so that's something.

Physical health goal 2010: Keep some sort of regular physical activity. It makes such a huge difference in the fibro when I do this. It's just too damned easy to slack off. Also, if I can find a way to dance more, that'd be good, as I just really miss it.

Main goal for 2010: FINISH NURSING SCHOOL :-D

In 1999, Patsfan and I first moved to CT. He moved first, I followed in March, and for me this meant leaving an incredibly stressful job that I couldn't stand and basically crashing and burning for the next six months once that pressure was off. Took an incomplete in the final project for my M.Ed. in Instructional Design and never found the motivation to finish it. On the other hand, I finished my Reiki mastership that year and began teaching Reiki.

In 2000, I finally got regular work at a diner down the street from our apartment. I still miss being able to walk to work. I'm fairly certain this is also the year [personal profile] bluedolfyn hooked me on Buffy and Harry Potter. (So, yes, Blue, it may be all my fault for hooking you on Doctor Who, but it's just long overdue payback. *weg*)

In 2001, the diner closed, and I did a few stints of temp work before taking on per diem positions at a local hospital and the agency I still work at. Welcome to health care! Patsfan's Nana died that fall. Hard to believe it's been that long. Helping care for her while she was in the hospital (they encouraged family to stay and do this, so I and my MiL all but lived in her room with her) was one of the things that pushed me to become a PCT, as up till then I'd just been a sitter.

2002 was the year we lost Steenie aka Amuse. Hard to believe that's been that long either. The only other noteworthy thing that's coming to mind for that year was our Grand European Vacation. Of course, sane people don't pick November as the time for a driving trip through Scotland and England, but then sane people don't plan to go back in late December/early January either.

2003 ... I have no idea.

2004, however, is when I first got on LJ, so from that point onward I have easily accessible info! *g* Um, not that there seems to have been much going on other than getting the Dementia Specialist certification. I also wrote quite a few really bad haiku apparently. That was also the year I finally had to go decaffeinated.

2005 looks like it was full of UU drama, though I think I still stuck it out for another year. It was also, and probably a very good thing for my sanity, a very dance-heavy year. Also the year I first encountered HTAZP.

In 2006, I finally decided to do nursing school. Or, rather, decided I might as well take the prereqs, since I'd always wanted to anyway, and hoped by the time I was done, I'd be sure whether I really wanted to do nursing school. Now that I'm halfway through, I'm still not sure, which is a bit worrisome. Also the year I started writing fanfiction. Well, started again. Wrote tons as a teenager but hadn't done any in ages at that point.

2007-2009 on LJ sum up pretty well as: read, recced, and wrote lots of fic, whined about school, less bellydance, more HTAZP, and the usual inconsistency in both physical and spiritual exercise. The most relevant bit being finally attaining the goal I set when I was 25 to "write a novel and either get it published or self-publish it if I have to." I hadn't been thinking in terms of fanfiction at the time, and I didn't quite make the goal of doing it by age 40, but it's still something I'm proud to have accomplished.

All in all, I think I'm reasonably pleased with the last decade and looking forward to the next one.

Okay, that's just about enough navel gazing. Happy new year, all!
