An odd subject line, as the link is a little tangential. See, in the pursuit of more points for Slytherin in the
OWL House Cup, I've been cleaning up and archiving all the HP and HP-xover birthday drabbles and ficlets from the year thus far to
OWL. I may have slightly miscalculated the effect of this, as each upload scores points to Slytherin, but then each review has the potential to score points for another house. So I'd best start reading some of these fics I have open in tabs and reviewing them too!
This also means some folks are reading pairings they've never seen before. (Did I actually upload the first ever Billville to OWL? It seems I may have.) Billville in particular has raised some curiosity. I've said it in review replies, and I'll say it again here: I so very much didn't invent Billville! I'm not sure if
eeyore9990 did, but she's definitely been a force in popularizing the ship. So, as most of those who've expressed surprise, curiosity, and potentially interest are also on LJ and/or IJ and/or DW, I figured I'd see about collecting some recs for them.
The obvious place to start is with
eeyore9990's fic list, headed by Billville
here on L and
heren on IJ. (Pretty similar, but the IJ version is probably more up-to-date.)
alisanne also writes Billville, with fics that can be found
here on IJ. Alas, I don't see a Billville tag on LJ, though I'm sure the fics are there as well. Many of the fics are drabbles, though some are longer one shots and at least one or two are longer chaptered fics.
Another prolific Billville writer is
angela_snape, who is actually the person I wrote my one Billville drabble for. Her Billville offerings can be found
here on LJ and
here on IJ, again mostly drabbles with a few longer but still short one-shots.
Not a comprehensive list, I'm sure, but enough to get those of you intrigued by the pairing started. *g*
Oh, and as I was selecting my tags for this, I remembered this funny that I have to share. Back when I first started reading fanfic, I was put off by the term slash, because I thought it meant there was going to be lots of blood and gore. I couldn't understand why so many writers got into carving up their characters! (This is even more amusing when you realize I started in HPdom reading Snarry and yet somehow hadn't figured out what slash actually meant.) In a conversation with Patsfan over lunch the other day, the topic of slash came up. It's actually not the first time. He knows I read and write it but somehow never picked up the term.
His misunderstanding was entirely different, though as someone a step removed from the fic world, it's far more understandable.
Me: Now, I like slash, but Snape/Dumbledore really isn't so much my pairing.
PF: Why are you calling him Slash?
Me: Huh?
PF: When did Guns 'n' Roses come into it?
Me: *facepalm*
