I've been using Semagic since I started xposting to IJ, so it was just easiest to just keep using it and add Dreamwidth to the potential places to xpost. I'm not xposting everything, just fannish stuff, because I decided to use that one as a pretty much fandom-only journal. (With that in mind, if you're only reading for fannish stuff and are reading me both in DW and LJ or IJ, you'll probably find that DW has a higher signal-to-noise ratio with less need to scroll past all the other stuff I post. LJ and IJ will continue to get everything. Well, except voice posts. Can't do those on IJ, I don't think.)

Semagic doesn't xpost tags to DW, however. It didn't used to for IJ either, so at some point that will probably get worked into an upgrade. Meanwhile, I've decided that's a plus. My tag system on LJ/IJ isn't so much a system, and overhauling it is just too daunting a task. DW, however, is a blankish slate, so I've been starting to rather more systematically set up fandom: xyz, char: abc, ship: def, and similar tags. I haven't decided what to call the het, slash, and gen tags. I don't like calling them genres. To my mind, drama, action, and romance are genres. Het, slash, and gen deal with either the orientation of the characters or the fact that romance and sex aren't central to the story. A drama can be het, slash, or gen, for example, just as romance can be het or slash, though it'd be hard-pressed to be gen. So for now, they don't get fancy category things as part of their tags. *weak lightbulb moment* I wonder if "mode" or something like that would work. That's not quite right either, hence the weakness of the lightbulb. The nice thing about category: tag is it gets all similar-type tags together.

Of course, this means I'll probably be annoyed when Semagic does catch up, as then I'll have to handle the DW tags manually.

In other news, on my first Tuesday off since I don't know when, my body has apparently decided to celebrate with a sore throat. Yay! *headdesk* Watching for the lovely white spots (which are fun to try to see in your own throat) considering my propensity for breeding strep bacteria. No point going to get swabbed unless they're there, but I want to jump on it if they do show up. Will. Not. Be. Sick. For. Leaky! Meanwhile, today is supposed to be a Suzy Homemaker day, because while Patsfan has done an admirable job keeping this apartment from completely falling apart this semester ... it's still pretty chaotic. I have a pretty high clutter tolerance, and it's even driving me crazy. Should get to that. Don't need a voice to work the washer or the vacuum, after all.

No, I'm not going anywhere. I've been doing both LJ and IJ for a couple of years. I can manage another continuously open tab, and I'm intrigued to watch how it Dreamwidth develops. I will probably make reading filters for myself, which I've also done with IJ, so that I'm not reading the same posts multiple times.

I don't know that I'll xpost everything there, though I'm going to xpost this to make sure I have my Semagic set up properly. At the moment, I'm thinking of it as probably a fic-only journal. This will make migrating old fic more of a pain, as I'll end up doing it individually rather than a bulk thing, like when I backed up to IJ. On the bright side for anyone who decides to subscribe to me, that should mean it all shows up in small chunks rather than one massive dump. Also, I'm firefly124 with no underscore there, as I am everywhere except LJ. One of these days I'll probably fix LJ to match everywhere else. Or not. *thinks of the 8 trillion broken links in the fic masterlist alone*

So, I'm going to give things a try here. I bought a paid account, but by check, so I wasn't expecting to be able to start today. And then I got an invite code, so here I am!

I'm not going to migrate my whole journal here, because I'm thinking this may be more of a fandom-specific journal. Thus, I need to see how I want to go about migrating *fic* here, which may actually be a bit more involved.

In the meantime, hi!
